Directed by Dziga Vertov, Man with a Movie Camera (1929) is widely regarded as one of the most influential films ever made. Free from narrative and actors, the film dazzles with rapid montage, inventive camera techniques and a vivid portrait of everyday Soviet life. Vertov’s pioneering “kino-eye” philosophy captures the rhythm of the city, the movement of its people and the sheer magic of filmmaking itself.
