Escape and evasion journeys required support that ranged from informal assistance to formal support provided by organised escape lines.
Regardless of the route taken by an escaper or evader to cross the Pyrenees, they received unwavering support from local communities and individuals involved in informal and formal escape lines. Today’s challenges lie in identifying and commemorating all those who contributed to these endeavours.
This talk provides an overview of several World War II Escape Lines, examining various routes and outlining stories of four individuals who embarked on an arduous journey that exemplified the highest virtues of humanity, only to tragically end in loss.
