September brings a free end-of-summer gathering with live music, street food and more than a little creative chaos. The lawn and car park become the stage, where learning-disabled musicians kick things off before gypsy jazz, home-grown ensembles and close-harmony folk drift into funk and MC-driven grooves.
Between sets, vinyl from the BoA crew keeps the mood alive, while theatre students, ukulele players and a clarinet quartet pop up across the site. The foyer transforms into an exhibition space for local school artists, with drop-in workshops tempting anyone to pick up a violin, tuba or steel pan. There’s also jazz jams, Latin dance, circus tricks and the chance to contribute to a mural big enough to cover the walls. Kids, adults, and anyone in between can give it all a go.
Fuel comes from wood-fired pizza, Tibetan curries, Persian wraps, BBQ hotdogs and the sort of cakes that ruin all good intentions, rounded off with Marshfield ice cream.
It’s not a polished festival, nor a village fete. It’s somewhere in between, where the joy of making noise, eating well and moving together becomes the point. All free, all day, and everyone’s welcome
