Colourscape is a giant walk-in sculpture of colour and light: a magical labyrinth of glowing chambers that visitors explore while wearing coloured cloaks. Illuminated entirely by natural daylight, the installation transforms simple primary colours into an ever-changing landscape of shifting hues and radiant pathways.
As you wander through the interconnected tunnels, you encounter moments of live music, movement and performance unfolding throughout the structure. Each visit becomes a unique journey through colour, sound and space.
Created by artists Peter Jones and Lynne Dickens, Colourscape has toured internationally for over 40 years and is presented by the Eye Music Trust. The structure contains dozens of interconnected chambers, offering constantly changing perspectives as visitors move through the installation.
Visitors wear coloured cloaks which blend with the illuminated walls, making everyone part of the artwork itself. Colours appear to shift and merge as you move, creating a dreamlike environment where colour can feel almost physical.
Along the way you may encounter musicians, dancers or performers responding to the unique acoustic and visual environment of the labyrinth. These performances transform Colourscape into a living artwork where sound, movement and colour interact.
Whether you stay quietly soaking in the atmosphere or follow performers through the tunnels, Colourscape offers a joyful and sensory adventure for audiences of all ages.
Colourscape Music Festival is brought to you by Eye Music, Crescent Music and Bath Arts Collective in partnership with Bath Recreation with the support of Arts Council England, Roper Family Charitable Trust and Bath & North East Somerset Council.
