The Newt take a different approach to wassailing, holding their celebration later in March when the orchards are ready for pruning. The day begins with Andy “Apples” Lewis, the estate’s fruit-growing expert, who teaches guests the craft of pruning apple trees before a hearty lunch in the Farmyard Kitchen. An exclusive cyder tasting follows in the cellar with the King of Wassail, setting the tone for an evening of full-throttle festivities. Expect booming cannon-fire, live music, traditional rituals to banish bad spirits and welcome good ones, and generous helpings of Somerset food and cyder. A lively, luxurious twist on a timeless tradition.
