The Mid-Somerset Showground is home to one of the region’s longest-running agricultural celebrations, with roots stretching back more than 170 years. What began in 1852 as a small gathering of farmers has grown into a major annual event showcasing livestock, rural skills, local producers and Somerset’s deep farming heritage. Today the showground hosts year-round community activities, food and craft fairs, educational events and countryside demonstrations, while still holding fast to its original purpose: connecting town and country, supporting local agriculture and bringing people together. It remains a proud reminder of Somerset’s traditions, ingenuity and rural life in all its forms.
