Somerset’s self-styled “greatest littlest comedy festival” returns from 26–30 August, bringing a frankly ridiculous amount of comedy talent to its intimate open-air setting near Rode. Founded by comedian Jarred Christmas and arts marketer Amelia Christmas, the boutique festival deliberately keeps audiences relatively small, despite attracting some seriously big names.
This year’s five-night line-up includes Katherine Ryan, Iain Stirling, Romesh Ranganathan, Tom Davis, Jen Brister and Sir Lenny Henry, alongside Tom Wrigglesworth, Tom Rosenthal, Micky Overman, Rob Rouse, Laura Smyth, Zoë Lyons, Josh Jones, Kyrah Gray and Barry Castagnola. Jarred Christmas and beatboxer Hobbit hold everything together, with live music from Jayson Norris.
There’s something extra on Sunday afternoon too, with Rhod Gilbert joining Christmas, Hobbit and surprise guests for The Big Mess Around Comedy Gameshow, raising money for Dorothy House and Frome-based cancer counselling charity We Hear You. Several nights are already sold out, which tells you pretty much everything you need to know.
