Rituals will include a new collection of ethereal and abstract dreamscape paintings by Sky Siouki, each one a deep and profound reflection of the magic of nature and beauty of Earth.
Canvases splashed with expressive brushstrokes and primal pastel marks make homes for a coven of ghostly goddesses. These goddesses, delicately depicted in milky oil paint, represent a collective divine feminine energy. These paintings are a celebration of the women who are one with the Earth, who meditate in tune with it, commune with the trees and allow their being to flow in rhythm with the seasons.
United in this divine energy, these women hold a very resonant collective power that may perhaps even reshape the future of this world we live in. In becoming so immersed and connected with the Earth we relearn that our roots lie deeply entwined with nature. Just like the fungi, insects, plants and creatures, we too have a symbiotic relationship with Earth that deserves to be recognised.
Rituals stirs up mystical connotations of witchcraft and ancient tradition whilst also quietly honouring the little ways in which we take care of ourselves day to day. The simple act of braiding one’s hair each morning or brewing a cup of tea before bed has this ritualistic essence that once tuned into can begin to feel full of divinity. Finding joy in such little acts brings such a powerful presence to these moments and they become more than just the mundane and open up opportunities where intentions can be manifested.
Our power as earthly women need not be diminished by the mundane, material world that we live in now. The smallest of rituals can become our own quiet forms of power and resistance. Simple acts like growing flowers that help pollinators or opening up a garden passage for hedgehogs to amble through shows devotion and courage not to give up on Earth. We are a part of nature, not separate, and we take care of the Earth because it takes care of us. Not because it feels like a duty, but as an act of genuine gratitude because it provides us with all of the conditions we need to thrive and to grow.
Earth’s nature is so full of magic, beauty and awe. In its simplest essence Rituals is an exhibition that hopes to shine a light on that beauty and remind that we humans are connected and one with this wild and wondrous place.
