Butterfly and Nature Day at Iford Manor

7 Jul 2024, 11am - 4pm @ Iford [ Outdoor & Nature , Family ]

original

The annual, free day of nature-related fun for all the family at Iford Manor returns. Don’t miss beautiful walks through two of Iford’s conservation meadows, which are specially opened to the public for the day. In addition to stunning views, enjoy spotting butterflies, orchids and other wildlife. Volunteers from Butterfly Conservation will be on hand to help you identify and find butterflies, and more.

Free craft activities, inspired by nature and run by Noeline Beesley, will be available for children to participate in with their parents. Various conservation charities have stalls with information and activities for all of the family, including Butterfly Conservation, the Wildlife Trusts, Bradford on Avon Swift & Housemartin group as well as the RSPB. Enjoy learning more about the many residents and inhabitants of the Iford Valley.

Picnics are welcome in the old orchard next to the river. We kindly ask that you leave no trace. Note that the paths through the conservation meadows are uneven and on steep inclines in places so are not recommended for buggies or wheelchairs. Sturdy footwear is strongly recommended. This event takes place in the old orchard car park and two fields a short walk away (signposted).

Note that Iford Manor Gardens do not form part of this event, but will be open as usual to visitors that day. Should you wish to enjoy the gardens, entry can be purchased separately (please book online in advance for a discount), but please note that children under 10 are not permitted in the gardens themselves.
