Afrika Eye - Bristol’s annual celebration of African cinema and culture - will return in October 2024, presenting the city with opportunities to take in street art, architecture, chess, politics and music.
Afrika Eye’s director Annie Menter says: “Next year sees Afrika Eye’s 20th anniversary so this year we’ve decided to explore new venues and ways of connecting with audiences, while also giving our tiny team the chance to reflect on what shape the festival might look like in the future. Our programme reaches across genres and aims to bring in new audiences to the festival with a season of films, rich in stories, drama and cultural themes. Staggered dates can spread the costs for audiences at a time of economic pinch but maintain our commitment to celebrating and sharing the vibrancy and importance of African culture with a programme appealing to all ages and interests.”
