Bring a picnic and spend an evening in the beautiful environs of the Holburne Museum gardens. Written by Liz Lochhead, this modern retelling weaves the three stories of Oedipus Rex, Oedipus at Colonna and Antigone into one gripping narrative.

Following the tragic House of Laius, from Oedipus’ fateful discovery to Antigone’s defiant stand, prophecy, power and passion collide, revealing the enduring cost of political hubris and human blindness.

Thebans is a modern retelling of these great epics presented as three short plays in one evening by a talented cast of actors in training from Bath Spa University.

Directors, Sita Calvert-Ennals, Emma Earle, and Feargus Woods Dunlop. Sound Designer, Speakman. The showings are split into two companies. The casts will perform their principle roles on the following days:
