The Pool Baleric Event Cider Box A3

Before the "Ibiza four" brit invasion of the 1990s, before mass marketed mega-clubs and influencers ruled the island, extortionate entry fees, and 15 euro bottled water, Ibiza danced to a different, more authentic 'balearic beat'.

Before even DJ Alfredo rose to international fame, Italian DJ Leo Mas helped him lay down the gospel of what 'balearic' would come to mean. Leo's legendary tenure as resident 'warm up' DJ at Amnesia ran from 1985 to 1990. Playing midnight to 4am each night, Leo Mas pioneered the eclectic alchemy of the ibiza dancefloor with a heady mix of Soundtracks, Spanish guitar, Soul, Funk, cool Jazz, Electro, Dub Reggae, Afro Beat, Hip Hop, Dark Wave, Indie Rock, Synth Pop, House, Acid and so on and so on...

Still DJing and still holding the essence of the balearic beat within him, The Pool Agency invite Leo Mas to join us for a midnight to 4am peak time set at The Cider Box in Bristol.

Joined by another champion of the balearic sound, the DJ, Producer, and Songwriter Sally Rodgers is one half of the pioneering electronic dance act A Man Called Adam. With an impressive career in electronic music many of her productions with Steve Jones sit in the ‘classics’ cannon of dance music with appearances across many of the iconic Cafe Del Mar compilations to name a few. The integrity and eclecticism she brings to that work is reflected in her DJ sets. Returning to the decks in 2016 after a 10 year hiatus, she has since carved out a unique, crowd-pleasing sound that delivers a surprising mix of her own ‘power-move’ re-edits, Jazz-fusion, global roots, deep house, cosmic disco, new wave, electronica and experimental cuts.

A digger with an instinctive and refined knowledge of what will work for the floor or in the chill-zone she’s a regular at Pikes Ibiza and with her show stealing festival and club sets Sally has established herself as one of the UK’s greatest selectors – a DJ who can push all the right buttons in any context.

Joining on support, we invite Bristolian walking dictionary of left-field curveballs, Spiceroute. Having soundtracked many a local dance, re-edited his own DJ tools (check the one on Manchester's Talking Drums). Spiceroute also holds down ’A Better Break‘ on Noods radio alongside Pool head honcho Matty J. Writing, interviewing and documenting cultural fringes of the scene in his spare time.

Resident Pool player Dj Hans has also spun across all corners of Bristol’s underground groove, while pimping records over the counter at The Collectors Cave. He has made it a mission to bring Bristol to Ibiza and is now happy to share a little slice of Ibiza back in Bristol.

Presented by The Pool Agency, based in Bristol but whom have made Ibiza their second home for the best part of 30 years - come join us for an early evening to late night Balearic dance, under the rosy cheeked, Cider Box glow.
