NOVO Quartet formed in 2018; three of the players were childhood friends. They have won numerous prizes but performed in world-class venues, but they also seek contracts, like playing at a boys’ school in Kenya, discovering how music brings joy even in places where classical concerts are rare.
Programme
Shaw Entr’acte Brahms Clarinet Quintet
They have performed alongside Quatuor Modigliani, the Danish String Quartet, and Alexander Lonquich, as well as genre-crossing projects with Dreamers’ Circus and Bremer/McCoy. They run their own Festival, ACROSS, which is all about celebrating the spirit of chamber music with ensembles from around the world – a vision they are deeply passionate about. Today they perform with the extraordinary clarinettist Oleg Shebeta-Dragan.
This is the first of three BBC New Generation Artist lunchtime concerts this season, and will be recorded for BBC Radio 3. The scheme helps to support young musicians on the threshold of an international career to reach the next stage of their development.
