Intro screen for 18.10.25

Well, here it is! The last event of the year! And it’s a big one! From 10:45 on December 14th, we’re bringing a full day of melodramatic madness with THE BODY KEEPS THE SCORE: A BODY HORROR DAY FESTIVAL. A whole day of iconic body horror films, gory prosthetics, terrifying face paints, and local LGBTQIA+ art in collaboration with the BFI’s Too Much: Melodrama on Film season.

Celebrating the most incredible and unhinged works of body horror, we’re equal parts scared and excited to run our BIGGEST EVENT YET, made possible with funding from the National Lottery via the BFI and Film Hub South West.

Film schedule: 11am: Introductory talk on body horror and the trans experience by our founder, Sal Creber

11:30am: Altered States (dir. Ken Russell)

2pm: Frankenstein (dir. James Whale) introduced by our friendly neighbourhood Frankenstein expert Jays Hawke

3:25pm: Tetsuo: The Iron Man (dir. Shinya Tsukamoto) introduced by our resident artist and monster enthusiast Zoe Burgess

7:30pm: The Fly (dir. David Cronenberg) introduced by our field reporter for Bristol-based events, Allie Quinn

Extra activity schedule: 12pm-4pm: Art fair featuring Zoe Burgess, Rusty, GoblinBoiDraws, Kate Mattacks, Katie Jenkins, James Vallance, and CumuloCreation

1pm-4pm: Spooky face painting with local artist Body Painting by Cat
