1947 follows a British Pakistani family in Bristol as an old promise- made a generation ago, thirty acres and a lifetime away- comes due in ways none of them are prepared for. What begins as an ordinary family gathering tightens, scene by scene, into something closer to a haunting: not by ghosts, but by inheritance, obligation, and the things families teach each other to survive that quietly become the things that break them.

This is a family that has always believed they'll deal with it later. 1947 is the story of what happens when later finally arrives.

A preview presentation of new work, bringing the play to the stage for the first time ahead of a full production. Performed at the Arnolfini.
Please note: 1947 deals with themes of family conflict, financial hardship, bereavement and suicide, and may not be suitable for all audiences.
Running time: 2hrs 40mins. Contains suicide, strong language, racism, family violence and scenes of grief. Loud music. Ages 16+.
