The Bard of Bath 2023/24: Spoken Word Competition

19 Nov, 2 - 5pm @ The Grapes [ Talks, Meetups & Workshops ]

The Bard of Bath

The Bard of Bath Competition began in the 1990s and has taken place regularly since. It was originally set up by Tim Sebastian, as the Chief Druid of the Gorsedd of Bards of Caer Badon, and run since 2007 by Richard Carder. Last year Richard handed over to Matt McCabe.

The competition is open to anyone who relishes the chance to express themselves through the spoken word, and feels they have something to offer the city over the year and a day they will hold the Bardic Chair.

If you would like to enter the competition please email your details to bardofbath@outlook.com

This year’s theme is ‘Roots’. You should create an original piece of poetry or song. Your performance should be between 1 and 5 minutes. This should be accompanied by a 200 word manifesto of what you will do over the following 12 months to promote the Bardic Arts in Bath.

The judging panel will be made up of previous winners, including last year's Bard of Bath, Annabelle Cormack.
